Product Care
Using the right methods to care for your printed products will help to preserve both the feel and the look of your purchases, even after many washes!
On the Tag: While the original (prior to the printing stage) manufacturer’s care instructions should be followed, they don’t always necessarily reflect the needs of a printed garment and, for this reason, we suggest that you try to follow the care instructions on this page, to help ensure that your purchases are kept at their best.
If you’re not sure which group your product falls into, don’t worry; simply match your item’s product category with the care instructions below. Product categories can be located in product descriptions, under the heading: 🧺 Product Care.
Follow these instructions carefully can help avoid any fading and cracking of the prints, along with helping to prevent shrinkage, both of which are more likely to occur if you wash, or dry, printed apparel on a high heat setting.
Target Area Print – Apparel:
Washing: Target area print apparel can be machine-washed cold, inside-out on a gentle cycle using your washer’s recommended amount of detergent. You should not use any fabric softeners, or bleach.
Drying: Target area print apparel can be tumble-dried on a low cycle, however air drying is preferred for the print to last longer. When it comes to ironing, use a cool iron inside-out and avoid directly ironing the print.
Quick Version:
Do: Hand Wash, or Machine Wash Cold, Inside Out | Machine Dry on LOW Tumble, thought Air Dry is BEST | Iron COLD, Inside Out | Use Mild Detergent, or Cleaner | Follow the Manufacturer’s Care Instructions
Do not: Dry Clean | Use Fabric Softener, or Bleach | Wash, or Dry Using Hot Setting
Target Area Print – Exceptions:
While following the same care instructions for the target area print apparel will work with these items, they are more specialized than the general apparel, and will be more likely to last longer and continue looking great, if treated a little differently. The primary adjustment is that we strongly recommend air drying, instead of using a machine, even on a low setting. Some of the fabrics, like the eco friendly canvas, may also require special attention. To ensure that your purchase remains at its best, please follow any directions included by the manufacturer, as well as our own guides.
Quick Version:
Do: Hand Wash, or Machine Wash Cold, Inside Out | Air Dry is highly recommended | Iron COLD, Inside Out | Use Mild Detergent, or Cleaner | Follow the Manufacturer’s Care Instructions
Do not: Dry Clean | Use Fabric Softener, or Bleach | Wash, or Dry Using Hot Setting | Machine Dry
Full Print – Apparel:
Care instructions for full print are similar to the target area print apparel, except for drying, where tumble drying isn’t just not recommended – it’s forbidden!
Washing: Full print apparel can be machine-washed cold, inside-out on a gentle cycle using your washer’s recommended amount of detergent. You should not use any fabric softeners, or bleach.
Drying: Full print apparel should be air dried to help ensure that the print stays vibrant and secure. For ironing, use a cool iron, turning the garment inside-out so that you aren’t ironing directly on the print.
Quick Version:
Do: Hand Wash, or Machine Wash Cold, Inside Out | Air Dry ONLY | Iron COLD, Inside Out | Use Mild Detergent, or Cleaner | Follow the Manufacturer’s Care Instructions
Do not: Dry Clean | Use Fabric Softener, or Bleach | Wash on Hot Setting | Machine Dry
Full Print – Special Sublimation Products:
This style of printing once again follows the basic Full Print care instructions, however, it is a little more forgiving and can therefore be machine dried, though again, air drying is recommended.
- Pillow inserts, or pillows without exterior cases, should be spot washed only, never submerged in water. This is true of our Pillow | Series 2, which does not come with a separate case.
Quick Version:
Do: Hand Wash, or Machine Wash Cold, Inside Out (when possible) | Machine Dry on LOW Tumble, though Air Dry is BEST | Iron COLD, Inside Out | Use Mild Detergent, or Cleaner | Follow the Manufacturer’s Care Instructions
Do not: Dry Clean | Use Fabric Softener, or Bleach | Wash, or Dry Using Hot Setting – No more than 86ºF (30ºC)
Full Print – Spot Clean Best
For these products, it’s best to spot clean only and not submerge them in water. As with other full print items, cold water is recommended, as hot temperatures can damage the print.
Quick Version:
Do: Spot clean, or Hand Wash ONLY | Air Dry ONLY | Use Mild Detergent, or Cleaner | Follow the Manufacturer’s Care Instructions
Do not: Dry Clean | Use Fabric Softener, or Bleach | Wash, or Dry with Hot Water | Machine Wash | Machine Dry | Iron | Use scrubbing tools
Embroidered Accessories:
These items can be very fussy when it comes to washing, so it’s best to spot clean, or if needed, hand wash the item in cold water. Embroidery colors can also bleed, especially in the early days, so please keep this in mind when washing.
Quick Version:
Do: Spot Clean, or Hand Wash, Cold | Use Mild Detergent, or Cleaner | Follow the Manufacturer’s Care Instructions
Do not: Machine Wash | Machine Dry | Dry Clean | Use Fabric Softener, or Bleach | Wash Hot | Use brushes or abrasives to scrub | Iron
Mugs
Our current selection of mugs are safe to use in both the dishwasher and microwave, however, for longer print and coating lifespans, hand washing is recommended.
Travel Mugs
While the stainless steel portions of our mugs are crafted to be resistant to tarnishing, or rusting, the designed exterior is a bit more delicate, therefore hand washing is recommended.
Do: Hand wash only
Do Not: Use in dishwasher | NEVER use in a microwave (metal in microwave = very bad results).
Phone Cases
After removing your phone from the case, you can use mild soap and water, with a non-abrasive cloth, to clean as needed. Remember to wipe gently and allow your phone case to fully dry before attaching it to your phone. Be advised that using any alcohol based cleansers may remove the ink from your phone case print, causing irreversible damage.
Quick Version:
Do: Hand Wash with Mild Cleanser | Follow the Manufacturer’s Care Instructions
Do not: Use Fabric Softener, or Bleach | Use Abrasive Cleansers, or Tools | Machine Wash, or Dry | Submerge in Water | Replace Phone Before Case is Fully Dry | And just in case, because you never know – you shouldn’t Dry Clean these phone cases either.
A Few Last Tips for Printed Product Care:
Fabric Friends
Wash with like fabrics if possible. Harder fabrics essentially pummel the print, which can cause problems, especially over many washes.
Creeping Colors
We recommend washing your items with like colors whenever you can. We’re all familiar with the red shirt turning white socks pink dilemma, right? This is important to keep in mind when washing, as colors may bleed.
Problematic Puddles
When drying, just in case of that color bleed, make sure to hang, or lay the garment in a place where, if bleed occurs, it won’t cause a problem (like staining a rug, or table top).
